Ethical and Sustainable fashion: Loving the world forever and a day

Here at Forever and a Day, we believe in delivering intimates with integrity.

Our commitment to ethical and environmental sustainability isn’t a marketing ploy: it’s a way of life, and it’s at the heart of everything we do.

Striving for a better future for generations to come, we believe that we have a responsibility to care for the world and the people in it. That’s why we’ve dedicated ourselves to conducting all of our business in an ethically, socially and environmentally responsible way.

Setting ourselves the goal of leading the way in ethical and sustainable fashion in Australia, we’ve been working hard to build sustainable and ethical processes into each and every facet of our business, from production right through to delivery.

Ethical fashion from top to bottom

Forever and a Day works with a lot of wonderful people, and we’re dedicated to ensuring that each and every one of them is treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
.
Collaborating with our overseas partners, all of our designs are created right here in Australia, and are sampled in our factory in North East China. Working closely with our design, production and sourcing teams, we schedule regular video calls to ensure that every employee is working in a safe, clean and positive environment.
.
All of our partners share in our values of safety and respect in the workplace, and are required to honour scheduled work hours, break times and holidays to ensure a healthy work-life balance for all employees.
.
The events of 2020 have not dimmed our commitment to ensuring ethical practices within our supply chain. Once the COVID crisis has abated, we look forward to scheduling a visit to China to ensure that working conditions within our factory are to the highest of standards.
Our factory is approved by the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) which monitors and assesses workplace standards across global supply chains to ensure that all suppliers are treating their workers ethically and legally.

Sustainability: Love the brand that loves the earth

Sustainability is everyone’s responsibility.
To protect the planet, we all need to make a commitment to change: every business, every community, and every individual.
.
By changing the way we live our lives — and the way we spend our money — we can all do our bit for the environment. But as customers, we can only start making better purchasing decisions when the brands we buy from start offering more sustainable options.
.
At Forever and a Day, we are not only committed to reducing our ecological footprint, we’re also dedicated to keeping our processes as transparent as possible, so that you can make informed decisions about how you shop with us.
.
Committed to offering sustainable fashion to all our customers, we’re working hard to incorporate sustainability into every level of our operations, both within Australia and abroad.
.
Working with small factories and producing only small quantities within each range, we only restock upon demand. While this means that some stock may sell out faster, it allows us to reduce stock wastage, ensuring that we only ever produce what we need without committing resources to producing, shipping and storing unnecessary stock.
.
In an effort to ensure that no materials go to waste, any excess elastic or trimmings are reused in future garments, and all of our fabrics are custom-made and dyed to minimise post-production wastage. We also personally source any hard-to-find fabrics to ensure that we don’t buy unnecessarily large quantities that are more likely to go to waste.
.
Understanding that shipping is a major source of pollution in our world, we’ve been working closely with our partners to reduce our carbon emissions, whether in the air, on land, or at sea.  All of our products are shipped to us in bulk, allowing us to keep packaging and carbon emissions to a minimum.
.
Our products are shipped to your door in 100% biodegradable and home-compostable packaging, while the reusable cotton bags that your pieces arrive in make for gorgeous makeup, toiletry or accessory bags that can be reused for years to come.

A Bamboo collection for the ethical wardrobe

In 2020, Forever and a Day introduced a new Bamboo collection in an effort to incorporate more sustainable fabrics into our range.
.
Bamboo is a fast-growing, versatile and naturally renewable crop that requires very little water to grow, and doesn’t need to be sprayed with fertilisers, herbicides or pesticides. It’s also estimated to absorb an incredible 12 tonnes of carbon dioxide per hectare each year, and releases 35% more oxygen into the air than trees of a comparative size.
.
We’re looking forward to increasing our efforts towards using more sustainable materials, and intend to continue experimenting with this miracle plant in the years to come.

Looking to the future

Being an ethically and environmentally responsible brand is an ongoing process.
.
As new research, technology and ideas continue to innovate our industry, we too will need to continue adapting and changing the way we approach our business.
.
We believe that to protect this world, we need to become the change we want to see. That’s why we will continue raising the bar, setting ourselves new goals and challenges that will allow us to stay on the leading edge of ethical and sustainable fashion.
.
In line with our values, we’ve set ourselves some new goals for 2021 and beyond:
  • Reduce the amount of single-use plastic coming from our suppliers
  •  Incorporate more recycled and biodegradable plastics into our supply chain
  • Integrate more recycled fabrics and unsold stock into our collections
.
This is an ongoing journey that will see us continue to grow our brand and improve our operations.
.
We look forward to having you join us as we work together as a company, and as individuals to achieve a more ethical and environmentally sustainable future.
